Humpty Dumpty is a famous character in an English nursery rhyme. The character represents an egg. This kid’s poem was once used to be a riddle, and the egg was probably the riddle’s answer. Humpty Dumpty dates back to the early 19th century. Also, in the 17th century, Humpty Dumpty was the name of a kind of brandy, and the word was used to describe a short and clumsy person.

It was first published as a riddle in Gammer Gurton’s Garland in 1810. Earlier in 1803, it was found in a manuscript of Mother Goose’s Melody.
