In a very sad hunting accident near Seaboard in Northampton County, a 34-year-old man named Gregory Chase Colas from Fayetteville tragically lost his life when he was accidentally shot by another hunter.
The incident prompted a quick response from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at about 3:54 p.m. This unfortunate event occurred near Mt. Zion Church Road in Margarettsville, about six miles northeast of Seaboard along N.C. 186.
Once the sheriff’s office arrived and investigated, they confirmed that Gregory Chase Colas had been shot by another hunter. Currently, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission law enforcement is actively looking into this incident.
In response to this sad situation, a fundraising campaign has been started to help support Colas’ family during these tough times.
The campaign’s goal is to raise $20,000, which will be used to cover hospital expenses, funeral services, and living costs as the family deals with the loss of such an important person, as explained in the campaign description.
