Itsy Bitsy Spider” is a modern nursery rhyme which is very popular among kids. There is another name for this rhyme; “Incy Wincy Spider”. This song describes the adventures of a spider named Itsy Bitsy or Incy Wincy. The origin of this rhyme is unknown, but it was first published in 1920, as a song for adults in “Camp and Camino in Lower California”. Instead of using the words “itsy bitsy”; “bloomy bloody” were used.

There are various modern versions of this kid’s poem. “Itsy Bitsy Spider” was printed in 1947 by the California Folklore Society in the Western Folklore collection. In 1948 it appeared as a nursery rhyme in the American Folk Songs for Children by Mike and Peggy Seeger. Later in 1955, it was printed in a book called “The Growing Family: A Guide for Parents” by Maxwell Slutz. This song has featured in many T.v serials and movies. Kids find this song very playful as they mimic its movements while singing the song.
