Ring a Ring o’ Roses” or “Ring a Ring o’ Rosieis a nursery rhyme and playground singing game. In general, people call it Ringa Ringa Roses. It was published in 1881, but it is reported that an older version was already there in the 1790s.

Children sing this rhyme and play by holding hands and dancing around until at the end of each stanza, and action is taken- falling down or getting up. There are various versions of this kids’ song.

“Ring a Ring o’ Roses/ Ringa Ringa Roses” Nursery Rhyme Lyrics
British version
Ring-a-ring o’ roses,
 A pocket full of posies,
 A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
 We all fall down.
Cows in the meadows
 Eating buttercups
 A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
 We all jump up.
American version
Ring-a-round the rosie,
 A pocket full of posies,
 Ashes! Ashes!
 We all fall down.
Indian version
Ringa ringa roses,
 Pocket full of posies
 Husha busha!
 We all fall down!
Maori version
Ring-a-round the roses,
 A pocket full of posies,
 Kohuru! Kohuru!
 We all fall down

All my sisters used to sing this poem and play with their friends. I think I never played with them whenever they used to sing this rhyme as I thought it was a girly girl song. You can organize a game with this nursery rhyme on your kid’s birthday party; kids will love this.
